What exactly does “proprietory finishing” mean to a prospective client or Architect?

A professional Decorative Painter produces, in concert with the client, a decorative design that combines the client’s vision with the artist’s artistic background, experience and ability to apply the surface design. Any hand-applied design is difficult to imitate and many artists have the reputation for unique and individual concepts that others would wish to emulate. So the word “proprietory” could be a descriptive term that initiates the question, “ How original is it? How difficult would it be to imitate?”

Proprietory finishing is a service that Antico Effetto takes very seriously. To ensure that their designs edge even closer to the description - impossible to duplicate - they hand-make the paint or plaster product that will be used to execute their designs. They never divulge their formulas nor do they offer for sale any of the products they manufacture.

In the January 1992 edition of Architecture magazine the article "Plaster Renaissance" mentions Quintillio amongst other artists “who are at the forefront of the revival of traditional artisan plaster techniques”. Seventeen years later Antico Effettos’ client list attests to their accomplishments.
