Hello there. Do you ever wonder where the time has gone? We just carry on our daily routines without realising how the days, months and years fly by. Once upon a time a European pop act called Boney M recorded a song titled ‘The Calendar Song’ where they sang all the months ‘January, February, March...’
It was a catchy melody, and March is a special month for the ‘Laid Back Glamour’ column – it’s our First Year Anniversary! Twelve months have passed by and here, in ‘Simply the Best’, I have a collection of tips taken from the last four seasons of design ideas from me and ID-Digest.
Strike The Pose - Now You See It Now You Don’t!
Yes, let’s show some items you have on a display, and also some to hide! Here are the storage solution suggestions – free standing storage units, modular systems and even bespoke units.
All you need to consider is something that will compliment your home perfectly and that can never go wrong. For example, free standing units can be moved from home to home, and around the home, and are generally produced in a standard height, depth and width. As for the Modular storage systems, they are normally flat packed and can also be taken from home to home. They are also available in different types of finishes and fixtures, including handles, doors and drawers. Within limits they come in a variety of dimensions. For clients who love that ‘fitted’ look, bespoke will be the answer. Bespoke design can be fitted to just about any area of the home – at a price. Bespoke products are normally a permanent fixture, so cannot be taken away to a new home.
Whatever the style you have decided on, always remember the unit will look better, and will help to make your room bigger with a combination of open units, drawers, and doors all in one – built in lighting will make the unit look even more glamorous and stylish.

As shown above some nice examples of storage units.
Some Thoughts
I hope your head is not spinning. The easy way out is to employ a well qualified interior designer who will be able to help you get the best out of your home. Also, do some research on the units that are available by reading design publications, visiting furniture stores and also surfing the internet.
